"This is the last book in the Kanes Chronicles series. It is the shortest book of the series but I feel like the darkest of trilogy and really brought the series full circle. I like the minor characters more than the main two because at times I found Sadie very annoying and selfish to be a main leader in the story BUT the characters are given their own personalities and aren’t expected to behave outside of those parameters for what we’ve been taught to expect. I appreciate that the book further flushed out our secondary characters and gave them more of a story and a past.
We’ve come to expect that these books will give us a similar plot throughout the series. An enemy arises trying to destroy the world and the main characters are the only one that can stop them with the help of a few friends along the way. I felt like this book did a good job at the leading up process but the climax itself was a bit lacking.
I enjoyed the small nuisances as they connected this book/ series to the other series like Percy Jackson. It greatly helped to create some cohesiveness throughout the universe that Riordan is creating. I enjoyed the inclusion of the Egyptian gods and how they are completely different in how they are seen interacting with the world than that of the Greek gods.
I think this was a good end to close out the series, however it wasn’t the best book in terms of Rick Riordan as a whole. This book gave me the conclusion that was needed from the drop off in the second book, but honestly there was a lot of filler that could’ve been taken out.
Overall I am glad I read the book and if you are into different cultures and learning their mythology I recommend you read it but as far as seeking a deep storyline, it’s not a must read. "
