Celebrate Pride every day with the teen advocate, trailblazer, and reality show star Jazz Jennings—one of Time Magazine's "25 Most Influential Teens" of the year. In this groundbreaking memoir, she inspires people to accept the differences in others while they embrace their own truths through sharing her very public transgender journey."Jazz is one of the transgender community's most important activists." —Cosmopolitan"A role model for teens everywhere." —SeventeenAt the age of five, Jazz Jennings’s transition to life as a girl put her in the public spotlight after she shared her story on national television. She’s since become one of the most recognizable and prominent advocates for transgender teens, through her TV show, interviews, and social media. Jazz’s openness has led to bullying and mistreatment from those who don’t understand her choices. She’s fought for the right to use the girls’ bathroom and to play on a girls’ soccer team, paving the way for others. And in this book, Jazz faces an even greater struggle—dealing with the physical and social stresses of being a teen. But being on the front lines of trans activism doesn't stop Jazz from experiencing the joys of growing up, from day camp to first dates. Jazz Jennings is one of the youngest and most prominent voices in the national discussion about gender identity. This remarkable memoir is a testament to the power of accepting yourself, learning to live an authentic life, and helping everyone to embrace their own truths.

"I love reading queer novels. This one was specifically unique because of the unique perspective that jazz brings to the discussion of being trans. she is so eloquent and spot on with her little philosophies in life. i am very proud to see young, queer people like her in the spotlight. It gives me hope for the future of our country! this book is great whether you are a person who has seen Jazz's TLC show or who haven't. This young woman is the future that I am looking forward to!!!"
"Audiobook SYNC Theme: Making Space for Yourself in the World

This could be a good book for tweens/teens who are unfamiliar with what it means to be transgender or know of Jazz but want to know more about her. However I found the writing very juvenile and a lot of it was Jazz humblebragging about herself and celebrities she's met. I feel if you don't fit into one of those previous categories the book will quickly become grating, especially on audio."
"Being Jazz: My Life as a (Transgender) Teen by Jazz Jennings was an inspiring read. Jazz knew from a very early age that she did not properly fit in the skin she was in. Jazz might have been born a boy but she was a girl and she fought hard to convince her family, friends and classmates. I honestly did not know much about Jazz till I listened to her audiobook. It was heartbreaking how hard she and her family had to fight just to give her the rights that the rest of us take for granted. She had to fight her schools dress code to wear dresses and other girly items and she wasn't allowed to use the girl's bathroom at school. She couldn't even play on the girl's travel soccer team. I couldn't believe how many parents complained not only about her playing soccer as a girl but using the same restroom as the girls. I am really glad that I listened to her story and now I am more aware of the issues that still surround transgender youths/teens and their fight for equality."
