"True confessions: I actually didn’t finish reading this book because I made the mistake of starting to binge watch Vera on BBC and realized I was watching the episode of the book I was reading. And yes, it’s basically the same. The first few episodes are more or less faithful adaptations of the story—at least in terms of the main who-dunnit-plot. (I’ve read several other Vera novels and recognized the episodes based on them.) I love Vera as a character, and although the TV adaptation is more attractive than the character in the book, she’s still the same crusty personality. I like both Veras very much!"
