In the land of Prydain, evil is never far away. Arawn, Lord of the Land of Death, has been building an army of dark warriors to take over Prydain, and the only way to stop him is to destroy the Black Cauldron he uses to create his dreaded soldiers.Taran, Assistant Pig-Keeper, and his loyal companions must journey deep into Arawn's domain to destroy the Black Cauldron. For each of them, the quest has special meaning. For Taran, it is a glorious opportunity to use his first sword in battle. "This was so different from the Disney movie. The movie takes place within the first two books but it ends so differently. The book is always better and I enjoyed reading this. It’s a short book, I read it in half a day. You get to know the characters even better and the villains are not who you thought they would be. It has a happy ending which I love. There is no cursing and very little violence, one or two battle scenes but nothing terrible. There is no romance or spice so I recommend this for kids since it has a lot of good lessons about life. "
