Death from Child Abuse-- and No One Heard

This book presents a graphic and detailed account of the last few days of the life of Ursula Assaid. Ursula was a 5-year-old child who was tortured to death in the name of discipline at the hands of her mother's boyfriend. An important lesson determined from the account is how not only the killer, but neighbors, teachers, and visitors who saw the abused child, share the responsibility for not stopping the abuse. It points out how the natural instinct to not get involved in other family's lives needs to be replaced with an obligation to help the life of a child in danger. Following the narrative section, there is a section on child abuse recognition signs for the helping profession. Other sections include information on reporting, treating, and preventing child abuse.
