"An utter page-turner. Goodman's voice is razor-sharp and keenly precise. Perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn!" —Tiffany D. Jackson NYT Bestselling Author of White Smoke and GrownStella and Ellie Steckler are only a year apart, but their different personalities make their relationship complicated. Stella is single-minded, driven, and she keeps to herself. Cross-country running is her life and she won't let anything get in the way of being the best. Her sister Ellie is a talented runner too, but she also lets herself have fun. She has friends. She goes to parties. She has a life off the course. The sisters do have one thing in common, though: the new girl, Mila Keene. Both Stecklers' lives are upended when Mila comes to town. At first, Ellie and Stella view the new star athlete as a threat. But soon Ellie can't help but be drawn to her warm, charming personality. After her best friend moved away and her first boyfriend betrayed her, Ellie's been looking for a friend to share her secrets. Stella finds herself noticing the ways she and Mila are similar. Mila is smart and strong--she's someone Stella can finally connect with. As the two get closer, Stella becomes something she vowed she'd never be: distracted. With regionals approaching and college scouts taking notice, the pressure is on. Each girl has their future on the line and they won't let friendships get in their way. But then, suddenly, Mila goes out on a training run and never returns. No one knows what happened, but all eyes are on the Steckler sisters.

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ There is a lot of set up in this book that made me get attached to the characters and then she just killed one off! I was not prepared and kinda forgot I was reading a murder mystery. They didn’t give me any prep or hints to who was going to be the victim until it happened. I know it’s terrible for anyone to get murdered but in this book I felt really bad for the victim. They didn’t deserve it at all.
Despite that I really enjoyed the book. The setting of being in a known “murder town” and the site of a major vacation resort was interesting. I also loved the sister dynamic even if they weren’t a picture perfect family. The sisters were both the narrators and with the chapters switching back and forth."
"Ellie and stalla are sisters who have grown apart from being pitted against each other over who’s the better track star. A new girl comes into the picture and threatens to beat both of them. Until she goes missing. Everyone thinks Stella did it. Ellie is determined to stand up for her sister. Ellie has been secretly dating douche bag Noah who is already in a relationship. She gets pregnant and has an abortion and tells no one. Except Mila the new girl. Noah finds out and comes up with a plan to make sure mila doesn’t tell. Ellie invites her for a run and Noah just “happens” to run into them. Mila is disappointed in Ellie for setting her up and for still being involved with Noah. Noah pushed her down a hill and says they’ll be back after school. After school they can’t find her. Mila died but not by their hands. Raven who wants out of the town after her sister went missing and showed back up leaving raven the laughing stock of town. She overheard Ellie tell Mila and tries to convince Mila to tell Noah’s girlfriend so everyone on the team will be distracted so she can win a ride to uni. Mila won’t do it and she ends up killing her."
"They Wish They Were Us was one of my favourite reads of all time, so I knew I would love this one. I wasn’t wrong. I loved the intense, competitive relationship between Ellie & Stella and all of the girls on the team. The story was fast paced, unnerving, and still managed to completely surprise me."
"At first I didn’t think I was going to like it. It seemed boring BUT KEEP READING!"
