Mariana Zapata
He was my boss, my brother's friend, a Widow, an ex-felon, and a man I'd seen casually with a handful of women. But he was everything that gripped me, both the good and the bad. Worst case scenario if things turned awkward between us, I could go somewhere else. I'd gotten over epic heartbreak before, one more wouldn't kill me. -- After moving to Austin following six months of unemployment back home, Iris Taylor knows she should be glad to have landed a job so quickly... even if the business is owned by a member of the same motorcycle club her estranged father used to belong to. Except Dex Locke might just be the biggest jerk she's ever met. He's rude, impatient and doesn't know how to tell time. And the last thing they ever expected was each other. But it was either the strip club or the tattoo shop. ... she should have chosen the strip club. -- "Babe, I've handpicked everythin' and everyone in here. I know what I want and I get what I want," he breathed. "And I keep what's mine."

"This book ranks just under four star, because of all of the “babe” and “baby” nickname calling. I liked the storyline for the book and the character growth throughout the book. However, Iris just felt a little too immature for me based on the life circumstances she went through. There was a lot of inner dialogue from her character, and sometimes it didn’t feel like it added to the story, and it only took away from trying to get to the main point. Dex felt just slightly morally grey for me and the entire motorcycle club follow the same lines. It all felt a tiny bit manipulative and it didn’t quite sit right with me. Overall, it was a really good story, but didn’t live up to my standards of Mariana Zapata. 3.75⭐️, 3🌶
PS - MZ: can you please stop having a turning point in social interactions happen because of farts in your books? It’s getting weird. "

"This is definitely not Zapata’s best but it good to see how far she’s come since this was written."

"I loved this book! It was my first Mariana Zapata and I immediately wanted to read more of her work. Slow burn at its finest. I loved the characters and their journey. Fell in love with them. If you like the protective male trope this book is for you!! 5 starts from me. "

"<strong> not up to her standards (spoilers)</strong><br/><br/>It hurts me to write this review because although the book had some good parts overall it was boring. It seemed to be building up to a great confrontation with the reapers and her father but alas somehow the reapers were no more and we all of a sudden have Croatians?! Dec was a dick most of the time even after they got together, yelling at her calling her an idiot ahhh no thanks. In the end Dex redeemed himself but still was not my favourite pairing of Zapatas. Disappointed in this read. But love her other reads."

"Another great one by Mariana Zapata! I love her writing. I felt like this was a different pace than her others and definitely the spiciest that I’ve read by her.<br/><br/>And Mr. Dex Locke, omg……grumpy, possessive, tattooed, pierced, sexy biker. <br/> <br/>Touch her and die vibes. So good."

"I loved this book! I wish it didn’t end. I am a slow reader and I got through this book quickly. I didn’t want to put it down. "
