You can't keep two people who are meant to be together apart for long . . . Lennon Davis doesn't believe in much, but she does believe in the security of the number five. If she flicks the bedroom light switch five times, maybe her new LA school won't suck. But that doesn't feel right, so she flicks the switch again. And again. Ten more flicks of the switch and maybe her new stepfamily will accept her. Twenty-five more flicks and maybe she won't cause any more of her loved ones to die. Fifty more and then she can finally go to sleep. Kyler Benton witnesses this pattern of lights from the safety of his tree house in the yard next door. It is only there, hidden from the unwanted stares of his peers, that Kyler can fill his notebooks with lyrics that reveal the true scars of the boy behind the oversize hoodies and caustic humor. But Kyler finds that descriptions of blond hair, sad eyes, and tapping fingers are beginning to fill the pages of his notebooks. Lennon, the lonely girl next door his father has warned him about, infiltrates his mind. Even though he has enough to deal with without Lennon's rumored tragic past in his life, Kyler can't help but want to know the truth about his new muse.

"5/5 This book ahhhhh. Ok so first I want to start this by saying I never and I mean NEVER rate books 5/5 I hardly ever rate books 4.5/5 so that fact that I rated this book 5/5 speaks volumes. My friend talked about how much she loves this book for about six months before she annotated it and gave it to me and to be completely honest I went into it a bit skeptical because I honestly didn't think this book could be as good as she was making it sound. It met all of my expectations and then it exceeded them over and over again. After reading about five chapters I knew I was in love. I loved it to a point of trying to drag it out because I never wanted to finish it. It's a book that the second I finished it I wanted to start it over again. I HIGHLY recommend this book if you want a romance that isn't just focused on the romance. I can't say enough good things about this book. Read it!"
"(Slight spoilers...) I finished this book in one day. It was absolutely fantastic and I would recommend it 10/10 times. It brought an understanding to how OCD actually is that I don’t think can be explained much better. I loved this love story and how they made it through even when their love was forbidden. Beautifully written and painfully honest, I will be rereading this over and over. I feel like it’s hard to explain how fantastic book was to me. Please read it. "
