"I will first name off the characters. Sour-fruit Frrar, impatient Tor, nervous Arruk, and ***** Lilly. This actually had some decent world-building even though Lilly closed her eyes a lot so we missed out on some minor things. I will say though its the same old trope where the men are outcasts for cultural reasons and a human comes along and excepts everything about them.
The world was unique to me even if the trope wasn't. I was interested to learn more about it but kind of got cut short by all the other things aka ****. Again one of my favorite aspects of alien romance is the language barrier. The miscommunication of the mating rituals were fun and entertaining. What annoyed the hell out of me was how instead of Lily learning the alien language she was teaching them words that didn’t matter like kiss and p*ssy. I wished I were joking. This smutty group was traveling to meet up with their clan after the flood and you think Lily would want a leg up on meeting them.
Even so, I did love the relationship dynamic. Tor was bold and impatient, Frarr was assertive, and Arruk big and unsure of himself. Lily took care of each one in her own special way. Still, even with the pheromones she started ******* after them too soon for my taste. It kind of threw me off. The trio was looking for a mate so their advances are understandable. If I just lowered my expectations and realized that not every alien romance can be The Last Hour of Gaunn I would have given this 4 stars. But my conscience won't let me.
While there were great scenes the whole of the story just felt like ones I have read before. I do enjoy when the women are the dominants. It just makes for a fun read. The way the trio was scared of Lily biting them or attacking them was deliciously cute. And how their tails protectively wrapped around her omg and the way their tails danced for mating. Again I loved the little details. This book stuck with me afterwards as well. I might have to pick up book 2."
