"I didn’t realize that this book is second in a trilogy. Although I don’t feel like I missed anything it gives me the “aha” moment that puts some things in perspective. This book starts out slow for me. I did not understand the anger that Séverin is feeling nor the need for seeking to be a God And this is because I hadn’t read the first book. Even though I enjoyed THE SILVERED SERPENTS I didn’t fall in love with it. It’s entertaining about 65% of the way in and unfortunately becomes predictable. Roshani Chokshi shines in her creativity and I am left wondering how good her third book will be. Is it going to slumber or kickstart me to want to finish it without putting it down? This is a 3 1/2 stars for me. Special thanks to Netgalley in giving me this opportunity to read this book for my open and honest opinion."
"This book did everything that the first book didn't do, and I loved it so much. The exploration of a certain character's death on the group was done so much better. The relationships between the characters were so emotion-revoking, whether it be gut-wrenching heartbreak or heartwarming joy. The plot and the magic system was so much more understandable and rich, which made it more enjoyable than the last book (maybe because I was already accustomed to the magic system), and the puzzles were as thrilling as ever. The cliffhanger has me screaming so hard, and I can't wait to read the next book. Honestly, you can feel the step up from book 1 and book 2, and I love it wholeheartedly.

Please read this book, it's really good."
"I love this series so much!!
The plot, the characters, just everything about it is so good
I will say that this one was made me a little annoyed at times, because some of the characters were being insanely annoying (cough Séverin and Hypnos cough); I understand why they were acting the way they did but I still wanted to throw the book a few times
Other than the annoying characters I really enjoyed this one, it was very twisty and fun when people weren’t dying/ having brushes with death
I don’t currently have the next book but I need it right now because that was one heck of a cliffhanger

CWs: death, violence, blood, grief, animal death, antisemitism, infertility"
