"I was most irritated with Ellysetta’s Mom & Dad nearly the entire book! BK 1: Den assaults Elly while her parents are in the next room! My daddy would have shot him the effing head! Consequences be damned! Her parents, “oh no Elly you have to marry him.” This book: Elly is happy, tolerating the wedding plans for for MOTHER! Her mom sees her using magic, goes to the priest and colludes with whom she thinks are exorcists to perform an exorcism at her wedding because she needs to “save her soul from the Fae.” Lady, they need to protect her from YOU! This woman called her daughter a ****! I would have been done with this whole wedding and taken the twins to keep them safe from the parents! Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised that the mom did something motherly at the end! The nobles/royal/government political games & deceit is pretty standard. Now we are leaving the city (finally) with her sisters in tow, unfortunately, the dad is there too. yay…"
