"I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. I typically steer clear of non-fiction because I get bored, or the language is hard to track. “She Said” defied my preconceived notions.

I was instantly hooked by the feminist undertones because that is an area where I have a lot of interest. I have also heard how terrible Weinstein is over the years, but never knew where that talk originated from. After reading this story I feel more educated and am going to seek out the NYT articles on the topic.

I also enjoyed this book because by the end I really admired the two journalists, Kantor and Twohey. These women reported on something so important and handled everything with care. They made sure to stay as impartial as possible and not get too wrapped up in their emotions. I think I would struggle with that aspect because sexuall assault is such a heavy topic. However, these women could see the bigger picture and knew this story needed to be told. They also were kind and respectful to all the women that came forward, even if their stories would not be included in the final article.

I listened to about half of this book on audio and finished with a physical copy. There is something so special about hearing the people who wrote the story tell it. I would highly recommend checking the audio book out for this one!"

"A phenomenally well-written book. The book offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look of how two NY Times reporters (the authors) broke the Harvey Weinstein story and what really happened in the lead-up to the Congressional testimony of Christine Blasey Ford.

The book is a somewhat heavy read due to its contents: Here is a man that has (had) a wife and five kids, and that has produced more great movies than you can count (his movies has won more than 80 Oscars over 30 years according to Forbes), who used the power that came with that enormous success to live a life of covering up sexual harassment and assault for ~40 years.

While I have no illusions that this problem is isolated only to the US, the fact that it was done on such a scale and that it was possible to get away with for such a long time, despite this being a well-known secret at his companies, is a rather unflattering indictment of the celebrity culture in the US. Have enough success (and money) and you are allowed to get away with almost anything, with strides of willing and accommodating lawyers there to help you every step of the way.

An interesting and very important point that the authors highlight is the damage that was done to the overall credibility of CBF’s testimony by other "victims" that came forward with allegations that were either false or couldn't be substantiated in any way. These people and their lawyers/representatives surely thought they were helping the case of CBF while in reality they did just the opposite: they just gave the other side a lot of good ammunition to argue their case.

Your respect for good journalism will go up after reading this book."
