NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In the seventh book in The Iron Druid Chronicles, two-thousand-year-old Druid Atticus O’Sullivan and his apprentice Granuaile take on an ancient plague-summoning demon and confront a rebellion of the Fae in Tír na nóg.“Funny, razor-sharp . . . plenty of action, humor, and mythology.”—Booklist (starred review)Atticus’s apprentice Granuaile is at last a full Druid herself. What’s more, Atticus has defrosted an archdruid frozen in time long ago, a father figure (of sorts) who now goes by the modern equivalent of his old Irish name: Owen Kennedy. And Owen has some catching up to do.Atticus takes pleasure in the role reversal, as the student is now the teacher. Between busting Atticus’s chops and trying to fathom a cell phone, Owen must also learn English. For Atticus, the jury’s still out on whether the wily old coot will be an asset in the epic battle with theNorse god Loki—or merely a pain in the arse. But Atticus isn’t the only one with daddy issues. Granuaile faces a great challenge: to exorcise a sorcerer’s spirit that is possessing her father in India. Even with the help of the witch Laksha, Granuaile may be facing a crushing defeat. As the trio of Druids deals with pestilence-spreading demons, bacon-loving yeti, fierce flying foxes, and frenzied Fae, they’re hoping that this time, three’s a charm.“Uproariously entertaining in a way that [Kevin] Hearne is uniquely able to achieve . . . [Shattered] has the feeling of a new beginning for its hero and for the series.”—RT Book Reviews“This series just gets bigger and better, and Shattered shows no signs of it slowing down.”—Vampire Book ClubDon’t miss any of The Iron Druid Chronicles:HOUNDED | HEXED | HAMMERED | TRICKED | TRAPPED | HUNTED | SHATTERED | STAKED | SCOURGED | BESIEGED

""You'll be sorry...You'll be so ******* sorry."

3.5⭐

Shattered is JM White's debut novel, and it caught my attention from the beginning. This book is a blend of domestic suspense and paranormal horror, which sounds perfect for me. I buddy read this one with my friend Sadie, and we had fun discussing it.

I am always so creeped out by things involving mirrors, so I was happy that the horror storyline was something spooky. I wish there would have been more focus on it since it could have been a much creepier storyline. I didn't love the direction it went in, and I wish the final wrap-up for this storyline would have been clearer. It sort of just fades out, and I was hoping for more.

I enjoyed the domestic suspense aspect of the story - I was always trying to figure out if the narrator was crazy, or was really experiencing what was happening to her. The husband irritated me, but that was definitely the point.

I feel like there were some storylines that needed more attention - if this book was longer, I think it would be more fleshed out everywhere. There were some things that were never fully explained, and I liked the story overall, so I wanted to know more.

Shattered is a very entertaining story, but there are just some things missing that keep it from feeling complete. There were also some things that felt out of place, like something with a dog that I wasn't wild about. I feel like the ending was missing some information, and again, I think this would have worked better as a longer book. Although I had issues, I liked the book, and I would try another book by JM White. If you like domestic suspense mixed with horror, Shattered is a fun one to check out!
"
"Honestly can't remember ever hating a book more

This book is so toxic. I say this in almost every review but I will never understand why women authors want to normalize and romanticize such disgusting male behavior. Warning, spoilers.

Logan is pure garbage. From the start of the book he is fully obsessed with Harper and her son. Obsessed! He has a niece but when he gets a high five from Flynn, Harper's son, he tells us that not even the tightest hug from his flesh and blood niece comes close to the feeling he gets from Flynn. So creepy and weird. He starts manipulating scenarios to be around them. The cliche of her car breaking down and him helping her out and not taking no for an answer. Of course he's a mechanic because it's one of the 8 or 9 jobs romance heroes are allowed to have. His brothers are a veterinarian and a cop because of course the are. Logan is also the cliche in these books of a man who has zero respect for what a woman says or wants. After Logan pressures Harper into a date and quickly uses playing pool as an excuse to invade her personal space, she straight up tells him that she doesn't want him to touch her and quickly leaves the bar. Of course Logan isn't having any of that. How dare a woman walk away from him!!! So he runs outside after her and tells us he knows what he has to do now and immediately grabs her face and kisses her. This author is garbage so Harper melts into him. Right. Men not taking no for an answer is so sexy! The worst though is that after he kisses her she begins to open up to him about her fears and he couldn't care less so he kisses her to shut her up and then shooshes her. Sshhhh! Are you serious??? This begins a repeated refrain in this book. At one point she begins again to try and share with him and he places his thumb on her lips and shakes his head. He'll decide when she talks. He has to have his hand on her back as she walks because of course she couldn't navigate without a man's help. Another time she tries to go out and check on her son but his stopped by him grabbing her by the wrist. She'll check on her son when he okays it. Another time, after she tells him she doesn't want to see him anymore, he shows up at her work the next day and drags her out of her chair by her arm. So dreamy! Women are raving about this book because abusive, controlling behavior is romantic if the guy is good looking. The problem for Logan is that he is obsessed with Harper and picking out her dress from day one but she isn't looking for anything serious. She eventually caves and gives herself to him. So what puts her over the edge? What crumbles her last walls and makes her have sex with him on the ground outside? It's his confession that he drove drunk and killed a woman. I had to stop reading for several hours at this point. I couldn't believe that the author would so callously use a drunk driving murder as a romantic interlude. What absolute trash. My biggest pet peeve though is that not one time in this book does Logan call Harper by her name. From before they even know each other until the end of the book he calls her Sugar. I can't tell you how mad this makes me. A woman deserves to be called by her name and not whatever condescending nickname a man can come up with. Logan is trash in every way and I laugh at all the 5 star reviews. If a man treated my daughter the way Logan treats Harper I would be in jail for assault. Keep your hands to yourself. No means no. These are simple concepts but this author and so many others don't get it. I sincerely hope I remember this author's name so I don't read any more of her misogynistic crap."

"So much fun, action, Irish mythology. Great fantasy read. Even better in audio version because the talented narrator only adds to the enjoyment."

"I'm not a fan of the switched POVs. Especially since there is no indicator that it has changed and I'm left confused until I hit a point where it becomes clear just who has taken over. I find that really annoying.

I still enjoyed the story, and I still love Oberon, he's my favorite by far."
