"More then the stunning illustrations and character journeys, I think what I enjoy most about the Moomin stories is what the author puts of herself into these. I was touched to discover Too-Ticky is a play on the Jansson’s partner’s name, and the sage advice the character gives is a reflection of the comfort and support Jansson received from her partner. They also worked together to create dioramas that are displayed in the Moomin museum, and it was wonderful to see how the characters were “brought to life.” This story was more introspective, and I appreciated it more because of it."
