A lush and vivid story steeped in Indian folklore and mythology, Roshani Chokshi's The Star-touched Queen is a novel that no reader will soon forget. An instant New York Times bestseller! Fate and fortune. Power and passion. What does it take to be the queen of a kingdom when you're only seventeen?Maya is cursed. With a horoscope that promises a marriage of Death and Destruction, she has earned only the scorn and fear of her father's kingdom. Content to follow more scholarly pursuits, her whole world is torn apart when her father, the Raja, arranges a wedding of political convenience to quell outside rebellions. Soon Maya becomes the queen of Akaran and wife of Amar. Neither roles are what she expected: As Akaran's queen, she finds her voice and power. As Amar's wife, she finds something else entirely: Compassion. Protection. Desire...But Akaran has its own secrets -- thousands of locked doors, gardens of glass, and a tree that bears memories instead of fruit. Soon, Maya suspects her life is in danger. Yet who, besides her husband, can she trust? With the fate of the human and Otherworldly realms hanging in the balance, Maya must unravel an ancient mystery that spans reincarnated lives to save those she loves the most... including herself.

"DNF— this whole book unfortunately seemed very disjointed and did not flow well. I was sort of enjoying the chaos until part two came around and I lost all interest. Not for me"

"DNF @ 58%<br/><br/>So when I tried reading this book early this year ,I barely got to the second chapter before I decided to put it back in my TBR . So I decided to gave it another chance by getting the audiobook. Needless to say that this should have left it on my TBR list. <br/><br/>The setting was beautiful and the premise was interesting but that plot and characters is the reason why it's getting a dnf.<br/><br/>My biggest grip about this book is that half of the plot could have been prevented if the Maya went to Amar and ask him about the **** she found out about him. Also Amar should have told her things instead of keeping it from her cause he think it was best. Instead of asking him what’s up, she goes behind his back to betray him for things she doesn’t understand by listening to the words another thus making **** worse. Maya to me was character that went on the hearsay of others instead listening to her own self. She let one person feed her lies because they own misfortune. She really wasn't a strong heroine to me. Also the romance felt like insta-love than a love they supposed to survived different reincarnations. <br/>"
