Holly Bourne
From award-winning author Holly Bourne comes a clever, deconstructed rom-com that proves that in real life “girl meets boy” doesn't always mean “happily ever after” . . . or does it? At turns funny, feminist, and achingly real, this read is perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Patrick Ness, and Julie Buxbaum.Audrey is over romance. While dealing with her parents’ contentious divorce, a breakup of her own, and shifting friendship dynamics, she has every reason to feel cynical. But then she meets Harry, her fellow coworker at the local cinema. He’s brash, impulsive, and a major flirt. And even though Audrey tries to resist, she finds herself falling for his charms. But in this funny, insightful, and ultimately empowering novel, love—and life—isn’t what it’s like in the movies.

"Personally I enjoyed it but I thought the ending kind of sucked. Harry did end up being horrible, I'm a sucker for lovey dovey crap. I thought maybe this would be like while we have had our issues we work them out. I get why the ending was the way it was though. Thats just my opinion though!"
"-There wasn’t a whole lot to the story until maybe 1/3 into the book
-i don’t really like the trope that a character can be like “i don’t believe in romance” then they end up in the romance at the end. Books like that pushes the message that someone can’t just be single. They just haven’t found the one and they will live happily ever after. At least with this book the girl has trama reasons why she doesn’t believe in love and they twist it at the end.
-the main ship was fine at some parts. Harry was annoying in some parts of the book
-they debunked the “not like other girls trope”

Spoiler

The ending felt weird. I read through some of the comment and it made me think about it in a different why. The couple breaks up but that is because Harry got drunk and Rosie gave him a blow job. Harry was drunk so he could not give concent. The book tries to make it Harry’s fault because he should not of drank. Knowing Rosie i wouldn’t be surprised is she pushed it a bit while he was drunk. It also felt like the ending they were trying to wrap the story up in a bow so all of a sudden Harry was fine about the break up."
