"A mystery thriller about a friend group falling apart, this cabin-set story is a quick read for anyone interested in a role playing adventure crew. I wasn’t a huge fan of the writing or the overall plot, it felt sort of underdeveloped and implausible. The characters were pretty well written and likeable, but I had a hard time connecting with them and really immersing myself into the story. I probably wouldn’t recommend to others unless they were specifically looking for a book including a D&D group. "
"this was very different than i expected! a friend recommended it to me, and all I knew was that it was a murder mystery. i dived into it thinking it was like agggtm. i was so wrong. it was actually scarier than i thought it would be, and i did not know about the rpg part. overrall i really liked it. ⚠️SPOILER ⚠️ but like? i hated liva anyway even before we knew it was her. and then of course the murderer, the one person i didn’t like died. i also feel that if you’re going to write this type of book, more people we were attached to need to die. seriously, carter was the only one of those we liked who ended up dying. too many people walked out alive for me. im also confused to why ever didn’t die in the house when they were locked in there? like ever got their note so obviously they were supposed to die in the house but liva never showed up to kill them? and it was too messy to just let maddy go out on her own and just hope that she would OD. liva wasn’t a great killer imo so ⚠️SPOILERS OVER⚠️ my rating is ⭐4/5 ⭐️ finished 1/10/22"
"exceeded my expectations, though I do have some issues to nitpick. overall, it is a fairly quick read with LGBTQ+ main characters. the ending was anticlimactic and there is some plot holes that never get explained but the writing was some of the creepiest I’ve ever seen before, which definitely makes this a 4/5. definitely read for a quick paced murder mystery plot. "Maybe this will be good for younger reads since it is YA - but it was just lacking for and missing information that I wanted. Loved that this book had diverse characters and the idea was great for the plot.. just didn’t hit the mark for me"

"This was a interesting book but a little hard to keep up with. Could barely finish it."

"I didn’t realize the game they play is some sort of fantasy roleplay **** about a made up place. Not my thing. I came for the murders!!! The blood, the gore! Not only that, but I found the characters to be completely unmemorable. Once I flipped past the chapter page with the header (their name), I pretty much instantly forgot who was speaking. They all kind of blend together. Do not recommend."
