"DNF. Honestly, there was a lot of good here, love the descriptive writing of NR, but I just did not buy the romance. At all. Like, at all at all. They said I love you after maybe two dates? Wtf? That's not love, that's infatuation. Plus, I hate romanticized thiefs. I totally get why he started, but then he kept going. Boo. It was interesting to have the book written much more about the male main character, but he is kinda a dick? Changes personalities like I change shoes. Also also, way too much coincidence. They just happened to run into each other in the same small town and it turns out their neighbors? Nope. Not buying it Nora. This was supposed to be my "N" book for my A to Z reading challenge. Now I need a new one. Sigh and groan. "
"Reading this book felt like taking the scenic route through the plot. Sure it was a little longer of a read, perhaps with a few more details than what you’re used to, but isn’t it just so NICE?

And much like taking the scenic route, there was a light sense of coziness to the story itself throughout. Our main character is brilliant without being too cerebral to relate to, and the cast of side characters & main love interest are just as interesting and endearing. The plot itself is extremely engaging despite not exactly being fast paced and the occasional time jumps included. I found them to be well placed and didn’t think they detracted from the story at all. Also, it comes across clearly that Nora Roberts must have done some very thorough research to have written such a cohesive story about high-stakes thievery. I think that with any type of heist book, assuming an author isn’t truly a criminal mastermind, that it’s inevitable that some of the details that make a story really immersive get left out. I think it’s probably fair to assume it’s attributed to a lack of experience in breaking safes or disarming security systems for example. Not so with this book! I was fully engaged the entire time, and continued to fall a little bit in love with our characters throughout the read.

Couldn’t recommend enough for lovers of cozy mysteries & beloved morally grey intellectual MMCs. Not to mention feisty red heads, quirky aunts, and doting found families. C'est magnifique cher!"
