A man with no memory of his past and a struggling, blind street artist will face off against the will of the gods as the secrets of this stranger's past are revealed in the sequel to The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, the debut novel of NYT bestselling author N. K. Jemisin. In the city of Shadow, beneath the World Tree, alleyways shimmer with magic and godlings live hidden among mortalkind. Oree Shoth, a blind artist, takes in a strange homeless man on an impulse. This act of kindness engulfs Oree in a nightmarish conspiracy. Someone, somehow, is murdering godlings, leaving their desecrated bodies all over the city. And Oree's guest is at the heart of it. . .

"A phenomenal follow up to hundred thousand kingdoms. We get to see the changes that transpired after the huge shift in the first book, we get to see sides of familiar characters that we hadn’t seen, many new characters and organizations that Jemisin so expertly presents to us in a way where you feel like you’re right in the mix. Warnings of single mindedness and a celebration of love and redemption, damn this book (and series so far) packs a punch!"

"This is the best book I've ever read. Never have I ever been able to say that about a single book before, but dang I am in love with this book. NK Jemisin is officially my favorite author. I first read this book (which is the second book in this series) because I didn't realize it was a trilogy. When I finished it though and discovered in the back of the book that there was more I couldn't have been more excited. I CONSUMED these books. The Inheritance Trilogy is truly my favorite book series- really only rivaled by NK Jemisin's other series! Such vivid world creation. I love the way that every character is so real; so lovable yet so flawed. Could not recommend more highly! I love how sexy the love between Oree and the godlings is. Oree is possibly my favorite character ever written- a blind artist that doesn't know the magic she contains. <3<3<3"
