"Story: 1 star
Images: 2 star
Actual: 1.5 star

I've read this book a couple times now, and now on rereading it while trying to read all the Caldecott books I remain as baffled as before about the love for this book.

I guess different strokes for different folks and all that."
"I don't know if I could think of a book that is more famously known. Where the Wild Things Are was a beloved household book in my life, and from a young age I loved it. This is the story of Max, who after a temper tantrum, was sent to his room. While in his rooms, he invasions this incredible jungle full of mysterious beasts, that Max runs away to and becomes king of. While being king is great and all, Max becomes sad and soon misses his home where he travels back to, to see a nice warm meal and mom waiting for him.

This is a book that will be a staple in my classroom library. This would be an early read aloud book, but then be put on the shelf for the students to return back to. Instead of as a lesson, I would rather have this as a choice book, so the students can free explore and understand the books for themselves. While this book is controversial, I will reassure parents, that this books is more about children than it is about the controversy.
"
