"It is difficult to jump into the middle of a series because you get the sense that there’s a missing backstory to most of the characters. I had never read a Scottish murder mystery so I googled lots of unfamiliar words. It was interesting to learn about the differences in police practices. There was not a lot of action unless you count one person falling down the stairs. The heroine mostly just drove around the United Kingdom and Paris interviewing work colleagues and suspects"
