"This book was one of Christie’s passion projects - one that she had mapped out for years, but wanted to take her time writing, so she saved it. It’s a fun murder mystery read. It is similar to Knives Out in that the story involves a quirky, rich family patriarch dying under mysterious circumstances in a house where the only suspects are his quirky family members, who are all spoiled and “crooked” in their own ways. The narrator is bland enough that he doesn’t distract too much from the mystery, making it easier for the reader to put themselves in his shoes. Mystery genre rating: 7 - for a fun cast of characters and reminding me of Knives Out; my personal rating: 6 - I finished it, but predicted the ending halfway through and the book itself lacked the depth and detail that I like to lose myself in with these kind of books. It’s one I enjoyed reading, but probably won’t reread or buy."
"Fast paced and an absolute classic. Perfect twists and turns. Easy read "

"Before the Thromby clan of Knives Out, there was the Leonides family of Agatha Christie's Crooked House. A fun and twisty read with a strange lot of characters all under suspicion for the murder of the patriarch, done in by the switching of his insulin injection with a toxic eyedrop solution. I really tried to feel confident with my guesses at the identity of the culprit, but each chapter brought new doubts and suspicions. No one is above having a close eye upon them! Enjoyable quick read. As is often the case with these kind of stories, it takes a moment to take stock of all of the characters, but once you have a handle on who's who, you'll have fun trying to decide who's who!"
