"Mercy Thompson never disappoints! She's a total badass, and is one of my favorite characters ever! This book was incredible from start to finish! Fun and fast paced with lots of action, plenty of Fae/Werewolf politics, and of course, amazing characters! Aiden was definitely a super fun addition to the series and I can't wait to see more of him in the future! 10/10 would recommend!"

"Audio reread: Loved listening to this for the first time. I've read this book twice before, so I know the story, but Lorelei King does such an amazing job bringing all the elements to life.<br/><br/>I waited on this book a little bit because I was not ready to read it for the first time. I love not knowing what is coming even when some of my favorite characters are on the line. So I held out, not long, but I held out. And I caved this weekend and read this all in one sitting. Because how else is one supposed to read a Mercy Thompson book?<br/><br/>I'm loving Joel from the previous book as a member of the pack. I wasn't sure how this would work out, since he's not strictly a werewolf, but he seems to be a good addition. Even better, I like how the new addition under the pack protection helped him keep the volcano pup under control for a while. <br/><br/>I think I felt the same way Mercy did about Bran. <spoiler>How could he abandon her like that?!</spoiler> I had a very hard time with this, it felt like a personal blow, even though he didn't do it to me. I'm not sure what will happen with this, but I am hoping <spoiler>for Bran to take them back in. But who knows if that can happen for the pack to be apart of the neutral territory to have ties to the Marrok. Time will tell.</spoiler><br/><br/>So this may come as a big surprise but I was left devastated at the end of this book. How could I not be? <spoiler>The walking stick was one of my favorite inanimate objects to become a character in this series. How can it be dead?! How?! I'm hoping for something to grow in its place from where it is buried. It can't really be gone forever, right?!</spoiler><br/><br/>As always this was a great book. The story is getting better and more complicated with each book and the implications of these actions don't affect just Mercy and her pack, but will reverberate through the Alpha and Omega series as well. I am still on the edge of my seat, long after finishing, awaiting what happens next."
