""Anyone could see that the wind was a special wind this night, and the darkness took on a special feel because it was all Hallow's Eve."<br/><br/>The Halloween Tree was a 3.5⭐ read for me. The writing is fantastic, but I just wasn't in love with the story. I think that you need to be in a whimsical mood for this book, and I wasn't particularly in the mood for a whimsical book. <br/><br/>I can see why kids love this one - it's basically an acid trip for children, and I think I would have loved it if I would have come across it when I was younger. The artwork is fun, and I thought it went well with the story. <br/><br/>I may give this one another shot one day. It wasn't a bad book at all."
"Keeping in mind this is really a middle grade/YA book, I thought it was well done. It explained the history of Halloween in a fun way that was just this side of fantastical. I mostly read it to fulfill my last prompt in the Popsugar Reading Challenge! Another one bites the dust."

"An all-time favorite! I was introduced to The Halloween Tree through the Hanna-Barbera cartoon movie as a kid and fell in love with it, and didn't read the book until much later in life. I love both versions! The movie holds a slightly higher place in my heart because of nostalgia, but both are fantastic! It's the perfect book for Halloween for all ages that evokes a nostalgia for a bygone era when things felt less complicated, and exploring the neighborhood was an adventure!"
