Holidays at Roselands
Martha Finley
After Elsie's papa returns from Europe, father and daughter continue to spend their holidays at Roselands, the plantation owned by Elsie's grandfather. Elsie's father becomes jealous of Elsie's devotion to her Heavenly Father, and Papa tries to remove religious influence from Elsie's life. As a final threat, he moves away, promising not to return until Elsie will obey him and leave religion behind her. Faced with this terrible choice, Elsie becomes very ill.
