Then, in the dizzying aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Daisy enlists in a top secret program, replacing male soldiers in a war zone for the first time. Under fear of imminent invasion, the WARDs guide pilots into blacked-out airstrips and track unidentified planes across Pacific skies. But not everyone thinks the women are up to the job, and the new recruits must rise above their differences and work side by side despite the resistance and heartache they meet along the way. With America’s future on the line, Daisy is determined to prove herself worthy. Because the most important battles are fought—and won—together. This inspiring and uplifting tale of pioneering, unsung heroines vividly transports the reader to wartime Hawaii, where one woman’s call to duty leads her to find courage, strength and sisterhood. “A wow of a book…[that is] a captivating story of friendship, heartbreak and true love. Highly recommend!” —Karen Robards, New York Times bestselling author of The Black Swan of Paris

"This was a great book. It was a slow burn at first but picked up speed as the book progressed. It is a historical fiction and a romance (nothing very spicy) with a bit of mystery thrown in. It follows the events after Pearl Harbor & the women who took over running the radar system around Hawaii once the men who had been trained to run the new technology were needed on the frontline."
"This was the perfect book for Women’s History month!

Pros:

It could be a failure on my part but other books I’ve read from this time period are always focused on the German side of WW2. I loved getting a glimpse into what was happening in the pacific and a real look at Hawaii.

Daisy’s development was a pleasure to see. She went from a loner stuck in survival mode to a strong woman with an amazing group of friends. This is a perfect book for people who enjoy found family as a trope. I also would say this would be the perfect book to show someone they can’t measure their capabilities on others abilities. People have different strengths. Finding yours and trusting them will get you much further than being upset that you can’t do something someone else does easily.

Cons:

I would really like to have more stories about the Rascals and their adventures. Maybe ones brought in at other locations. I’d also love to see what other jobs women took on and how it changed them and the world."
