"I was hesitant to pick this one up again as it was a big daunting heavy brick. The first book, "Thousand lives" I had read over 2 years ago and honestly didn't remember a lot of it. Scouring the internet for basically how the book ended, I was refreshed enough to jump in, and man am I glad I did.

Tyler Whiteside's magic system is cool. Trying to explain it to my wife made it sound silly "the dragons eat certain materials, and when they poop it out......magic powder", but the different variants, what they do, is super original. The "ruse" itself was clever, and seeing it play out across multiple character POV's was delightful. I found myself thinking about this a lot more then the first one, and am looking forward to reading the conclusion this year!"
