"Listened to the audiobook on and off. I didn’t have very good comprehension since I’d be half asleep when I got around to listening to this book and had to go back several times to understand the storyline.<br/><br/>I like that the author read his own book and did voices with the characters, I feel it’s best that the authors narrate their own books so we understand what they pictured or had in mind of characters, storyline, meaning, humor etc.<br/><br/>The feel of this book kind of reminds me of the Magyk series with the character Septimus Heap. It’s a nice children’s story, having characters with slightly interesting details to distinguish between each other: a quiet yet firm mother, a feisty pirate grandpa, and three children who are being kids by occasionally getting into trouble.<br/><br/>I don’t remember if it’s explained in the story of why the kids weren’t told they were children of a king until near the end of the book and what had happened to him but that’s what I was wondering after that.<br/><br/>I liked the name of the dog, I kind of want to name a dog Nugget if I get another one…"
