"I had a hard time finishing this book. Since his first few books I have not found Grisham that captivating."

"The epitome of excellent storytelling. This book had everything. Two generations, good vs evil, love, family, friendship, hard work, preserverence, stories of Little League, boxing matches, strip clubs, gambling, outlaws, natural disaster, a shift in economy, courtroom cases, and a shocking turn of events, leading to an outstanding tale of revenge. "
"I could never say enough about John Grisham he writes some of the best books ever written. I have never been disappointed when reading any of Mr. Grisham’s stories, and this was no exception I was completely drawn into the story rooting for the good guys and finding my heart stopping when the unexpected twist happened. I highly recommend this book."
"Love Grisham but didn’t love this book. It was unlike his normal compelling page turners"

"What a great book! At first, I was wondering where the story was going because there is quite a bit of background about the two main characters, Hugh Malco and Keith Rudy as they grew up along the coast of southern Mississippi. Then the story focuses more on their respective fathers; Lance Malco (a crime leader who runs illegal gambling and prostitution) and Jesse Rudy (who becomes a lawyer determined to clean up the coast). Another frequent character is Nevin Noll who works for Lance, and becomes kind of a mentor to Hugh as he grows up. I can't say anything more about this story without giving away key plot points, but I had a hard time putting this down. Several nights of shortened sleep just because I wanted to keep reading."
