"This is the best out of the three books Mr. Carson asked us to read over the summer. Koly is a thirteen-year-old girl who gets married and her husband is sick. when they take him to the Ganges river to bathe, he gets sicker and dies. Koly becomes best friends with her sister in-law. Her sass always bossed her around after Harold died and her Sassur he was a teacher, started teaching her to read. when her siter in-law gets married and her Sassur dies, Sass and Koly go to live with Sass's brother. She takes her to a place where Widows get left behind. She meets a bicycle rickshaw puller and she likes him but has to stay true to her culture and not remarry. But in the end, she marries him."
"Love everything about this book! An arranged marriage, an underhanded mother-in-law, a unique skill with the sewing needle, and a heartwarming romance. I come back to this book often!"
