"Honestly? There was nothing crazy or monuments about this book, and that is the point! Taking something so seemingly mundane as the dark and making it a cataclysmic event is peak science fiction. Thelayering of journalism, religion, astronomy, and archaeology?! And the fact that I still THIINK about this book years later, and contemplate other mundane things that could be horrifying to other life is really cool & is the reason asimov is og king of sci fi"
"I was pulling my hair out- “that’s not how group behavior works!” The ending was hand wavy, and the solution amounted to “people are bad and selfish” which just isn’t satisfying… or true."
