"A book about a seamstress! In a tailoring competition! Yeah, I can admit I fell in love with this book at the synopsis and am very, very biased towards it. I might even have overlooking a few things simply because it is about making clothes with magic scissors. I loved the first third of the book the most and did lose some interest as romance became a larger part of the plot. Still, the novel knocks it out of the park with stunning visuals and a beautifully crafted world. I'm excited to see what the next book brings.

"This is a beautifully crafted and romantic Asian fantasy. The first half of the story is a drama filled fashion contest in the Silk Road era, the other half is a sweeping adventure. The worldbuilding was so creative and thought out, and the fact that the author’s other fantasies are set in the same world makes me even more excited to read them. And the story is so heartbreaking and passionate, with a cliffhanger that will leave you reaching for the sequel. There is one major issue: Maia is the average YA protagonist age (about 16-18). Edan, the love interest, is magical, so he is a few hundred years old (and is described as looking to be about 20 years old.) This results in a massive age gap between the characters. Their relationship isn’t portrayed in a problematic way and the romance is sort of cute, but it still is very awkward to think about. Other than that, this is a lovely and well-crafted Asian fantasy that I was greatly immersed in, and I will definitely continue to read this author’s work."
"YA of female lead who has ability to make remarkable enchanted clothes from scissors. Being protected and falling for the Kings enchanter herself while on a journey to make three dresses for the Kings bride (shes made three impossible tasks for our lead) Heartfelt and inspirational. Knowing to put more faith in yourself. Beautiful story and details pop out as I read this series! So Good!!"
