The Journey Back from Hell

An account of the experiences of Jewish or political prisoners who were inmates of Nazi concentration camps, based on interviews with 120 survivors. Pt. 1 (p. 17-112) gives general background information, including description of the development of the concentration camp system, life in the camps, attitudes toward the DPs, and a general discussion of the psychological problems of survivors. Pt. 2 (p. 115-457) consists of accounts of the experiences of survivors now living in Western Europe, the USA, and Israel, covering the prewar period, the camps, their postwar lives, and their view of these experiences today.
