"3.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 4. The first half of the book was super slow and honestly kind of boring. It didn’t really pick up until there was less than 200 pages left. The main thing that made this book slow was a lot of telling but not showing. Wolf’s POV throws lots of detail at us about the world and its history, but we don’t actually see anything from this information. It’s just fact after fact thrown at us. The author then tried to balance that out by having only character development in Sabine’s POV, which ended up making the book feel more lopsided than anything. There’s an extra plot thrown in that isn’t even slightly marketed that honestly would have made me never pick the book up. I don’t regret reading it, but I don’t think I’ll continue the series."
