Tupac Shakur
Tupac Shakur's most intimate and honest thoughts were uncovered only after his death with the instant classic The Rose That Grew from Concrete. His talent was unbounded a raw force that commanded attention and respect. His death was tragic—a violent homage to the power of his voice. His legacy is indomitable—as vibrant and alive today as it has ever been. For the first time in paperback, this collection of deeply personal poetry is a mirror into the legendary artist's enigmatic world and its many contradictions. Written in his own hand from the time he was nineteen, these seventy-two poems embrace his spirit, his energy—and his ultimate message of hope.

"Tupac was not only a talented rapper and actor but also a talented writer. The poems in this collection were written between 1989-1991, he was only 18-20 years old. I wish he would’ve had more time here on earth to further develop his writing skills and continue to grow. Many people believe Tupac was just a thug but he was also incredibly smart and an advocate of social justice issues. Tupac is a great example of how there are layers to people and he shows that in his writing. “Sometimes I Cry” was my favorite piece. I loved that we saw his sadness, his frustration, his love, and his intelligence through his poetry."
