"Adele Rafferty is a washed-up soap opera actress who is severely down on her luck. Called on a whim to star as the lead in a upcoming flick, Final Draft, she eagerly accepts, without knowing the full extent of what she’s getting herself into. The minimal single-digits crew screams red flag as does the creepy atmosphere in the Irish countryside. However, she throws caution to the wind in an effort to reignite her career and save her name, but little does she and the reader know what’s coming.
This is a meta-narrative that reminded me of Scream and it is very much a story within a story with gaslighting abound…if all that has got your attention, I hope you give this one a chance! It is fast-paced, thrilling, and filled with all the right amounts of betrayal and dread. Adele is someone to root for through and through as she parses her way through a web of secrecy. Feast your eyes mystery, storytelling, and film fiends for this read is coming in hot 👀😉💜

"This was ALMOST a five star read for me. I couldn’t put this book down. The reason I couldn’t give it a full 5 is that it was a bit repetitive in parts and the character would over explain her thoughts. The story could have been shorter and just as gripping without these redundancies. Some reveals were guessable, others came as a twist. The story was fun to follow and had you continually wondering how reliable the MC was, questioning just exactly how crazy she might be. "
"I believe this will be my last time reading a book by Howard. I loved The Liar’s Girl and Distress Signals, but have found her later books disappointing. Writing just falls flat."

"I was hopeful and highly anticipating reading this one, but it was a letdown. I've been trying to think about how to review this for a while and I keep coming up blank. It was a meh read for me, personally.
Sorry to say it was disappointing for me. It's a story, inside a story, and so forth, but it felt like it might be too much. It also went on kind of long. It has some good parts to it and there are others that would probably like it and enjoy it, so if you like this author or this kind of story, then definitely check it out.
Thanks to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for letting me read and review this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own."
"3 stars that may move down to 2 1/2 with the passing of time. This one started super strong for me. Loved the premise and the meta nature of the book within the book within the book (…within the book?) The beginnings of the WTF is going on moments we’re good but it started to lose me towards the end and the final pages were rough. I’ll definitely check out the author’s other book, however."
