The first book in this thrilling, terrifying series by New York Times bestselling author Barry Lyga is perfect for fans of Dexter. It was a beautiful day. It was a beautiful field. Except for the body. Jazz is a likable teenager. A charmer, some might say. But he's also the son of the world's most infamous serial killer, and for Dear Old Dad, "Take Your Son to Work Day" was year-round. Jazz has witnessed crime scenes the way cops wish they could--from the criminals' point of view. And now, even though Dad has been in jail for years, bodies are piling up in the sleepy town of Lobo's Nod. Again. In an effort to prove murder doesn't run in the family, Jazz joins the police in the hunt for this new serial killer. But Jazz has a secret--could he be more like his father than anyone knows? From acclaimed author Barry Lyga comes a riveting thriller about a teenager trying to control his own destiny in the face of overwhelming odds.

"This story started off a bit dry until you got a feel for the protagonist. A very fun and easy read. Definitely felt like a Young Adult Dexter. Jazz was good in his own way but you could see the sinister brewing beneath.

To me I hunt Killers was too short to completely immerse myself in the story. Though book two picked up very quickly. Watch out for triggers warnings because they get a little more intense as the series goes on but never too graphic.

The side characters made the story more approachable. Howie was the best. I felt like he needed a sidekick dog *hint hint* Scooby-Doo. And Con was always the voice of reason. Both seem to have held what was the last little bit of Jazz's humanity.

I started likeing Billy later in the series. I know how horrible that sounds but that's what I've noticed in serial killers that they start making a sick kind of sense. There wasn't as many twist as I would have liked. The series was a good blend of everything which meant nothing particularly stuck out.

All and all I enjoyed myself and the characters. The story held its secrets bit gave others away so you wasn't so focused on what you weren't getting. It was interesting, the killer aspect and how it giving down from generations or is sometimes just forced on someone."
"I remember picking this book up, browsing the Thriller section of the book store, and thinking, this sounds interesting. So I bought it and placed it on my shelf, buried it under more books and forgot about it. The title, the plot, the cover, I thought this may be the scariest book I will ever read, well I finally got around the reading it, the first half was underwhelming, a great plot, otherwise it didn’t seem like it was going anywhere. However the ending and the VERY ending was incredible! Twist after twist I didn’t see coming, extremely well written! It just didn’t grab me the way I hoped. 3⭐️"
