"Aquaman has gotten an unfair rap over the years. This series was one of dc comics most successful attempts at shaking it off and was so well liked that it helped inspire the movie. This volume follows Aquaman as he struggles to balance his atlantean and American heritage. Thankfully he has his love, mera, and dog to help. The story does have some continuity coming into it but as it was part of the New 52 (a line wide relaunch of books) all the important things are explained. The art isn’t groundbreaking but it doesn’t have to be especially when it’s this darn good. And it’s still canon."
