Marion and Shiva Stone are twin brothers born of a secret union between a beautiful Indian nun and a brash British surgeon. Orphaned by their mother’s death and their father’s disappearance and bound together by a preternatural connection and a shared fascination with medicine, the twins come of age as Ethiopia hovers on the brink of revolution. Moving from Addis Ababa to New York City and back again, Cutting for Stone is an unforgettable story of love and betrayal, medicine and ordinary miracles—and two brothers whose fates are forever intertwined.

"This story is very well written, and literally encompasses an entire lifetime, making the plot pretty intriguing. I'm not sure how I would've felt if I read this in book format since it's incredibly long and I think I'd have been too intimidated. The audiobook worked really well for me, and I was able to stay engaged and follow the plot, the narrator does a great job of giving voice to the characters and I felt I could connect with Marion's internal struggles (though our lives could not be more different). Worth taking a chance on, just make sure you can put aside the time to read it if you're borrowing it from the library like me. 8/10🫄🏽🩺"
