"There is something about Irish crime procedurals that I have been obsessed with these past few years, and this is a perfect example of why! This had a dual layer of mystery (cold case and a current case!) and I loved the different perspectives of the story. In a lot of procedural dramas, you only get the view from the detective investigating, but honestly Aisling was one of my favorite characters, and I loved see her own “investigation.”

There were a lot of Irish specific tropes, so to speak, evident throughout the novel, but ironically that made it feel more authentic. And I loved the inclination toward the importance of history. I think a lot of our past can inform our future if we are willing to examine it closely.

I’ve already read the second in this series but a third is to come, so I will eagerly await the next book!"

"This book hit short. Confusing character arcs and overall disappointing plot. "
