"This took me a little longer to get into, but by the 3rd section I was sold. This is a mother daughter story at its heart, but it’s also full of culture and love of history and place. It describes the dichotomy of living within a hyphen: Iranian-American, but never wholly either. This story helped me to understand that constant seesaw of belonging that those who come to the United States, seeking refuge or opportunity, must feel everyday. I am grateful for stories such as this, that thin the barriers of ethnicity and nationality, and remind us of the human element of it all. I really enjoyed this and I learned so much, and I hope others who read this feel the same!"
