For fans of Carley Fortune’s Every Summer After, from the author of Nora Goes Off Script comes the ultimate summer nostalgia read, about a woman whose return to her family’s beach house to plan her wedding brings her and her fiancé unexpectedly face to face with her first love who she hasn't seen in fourteen years, but who she spent every summer with from age five to seventeen when he broke her heart, calling into question everything she thought she knew about their love story, and herself. Beach Rules: Do take long walks on the sand. Do put an umbrella in every cocktail. Do not run into your first love. Sam’s life is on track. She has the perfect doctor fiancé, Jack (his strict routines are a good thing, really), a stable job in Manhattan (unless they fire her), and is about to tour a wedding venue near her family’s Long Island beach house. Everything should go to plan, yet the minute she arrives, Sam senses something is off. Wyatt is here. Her Wyatt. But there’s no reason for a thirty-year-old engaged woman to feel panicked around the guy who broke her heart when she was seventeen. Right? Yet being back at this beach, hearing notes from Wyatt’s guitar float across the night air from next door as if no time has passed—Sam’s memories come flooding back: the feel of Wyatt’s skin on hers, their nights in the treehouse, and the truth behind their split. Sam remembers who she used to be, and as Wyatt reenters her life their connection is as undeniable as it always was. She will have to make a choice. Is her heart worth the risk?

"3.5⭐
This was a nice summer romance, and I liked the writing style, but I just failed to connect with the FMC. Sam was super sweet, and I enjoyed her character development, but I never really clicked with her. She spent so much time pining for Wyatt and being hung up on him all while planning her wedding to another man! It felt very cheating adjacent, and no matter how much I didn't like her and Jack as a couple, I just couldn't make myself get over it. She should have called off the engagement sooner, or at least talked to her fiance about how she was feeling. I enjoyed the dual timelines, and Wyatt was a fun, lovable character, so I definitely enjoyed getting to see pieces of the past from his POV. The ending felt a bit rushed, like her whole life imploded and she was just immediately fine and completely happy, but I was happy when Wyatt and Sam were finally able to be together again! Could have been better, but I still enjoyed it! Second chance romance, friends to lovers, love triangle(sort of), beach setting, dual timeline, and dual POV! If you're looking for a clean, beachy book with the second chance romance trope then this book is probably worth checking out!"
"2.75/5 ⭐️ This one has a similar feeling to The Summer I Turned pretty, Love and Other Words and Every Summer After with a very simple plot line. I could not get into it when her second chance romance love interest was her ex high school she dated for .5 second and ended in miscommunication that left her in therapy. The ending is also sooo abrupt. Like you just jumped ship from your entire life and are just 100 percent happy about it with no issues. If you want a one sitting read with a beach vibe sure this will work. Other than that would I skip this one. "
"this was a cute book but could have used more depth to the story and characters! I liked Nora Goes Off Script by Annabel Monaghan so I decided to check out her other books too. I felt like I didn’t really connect to the characters very much in this book! maybe I unknowingly had high expectations going into it. but it was a cute story and we all knew how it would end! just didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped to. 3.75 ⭐️"
"Kind of predictable love story. Would read again but not sure I’d recommend. "
