The New York Times bestselling book from Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg—“a comprehensive look inside her brilliantly analytical, entertainingly wry mind, revealing the fascinating life of one of our generation's most influential voices in both law and public opinion” (Harper’s Bazaar). My Own Words “showcases Ruth Ginsburg’s astonishing intellectual range” (The New Republic). In this collection Justice Ginsburg discusses gender equality, the workings of the Supreme Court, being Jewish, law and lawyers in opera, and the value of looking beyond US shores when interpreting the US Constitution. Throughout her life Justice Ginsburg has been (and continues to be) a prolific writer and public speaker. This book’s sampling is selected by Justice Ginsburg and her authorized biographers Mary Hartnett and Wendy W. Williams, who introduce each chapter and provide biographical context and quotes gleaned from hundreds of interviews they have conducted. Witty, engaging, serious, and playful, My Own Words is a fascinating glimpse into the life of one of America’s most influential women and “a tonic to the current national discourse” (The Washington Post).

"The biography of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. After her passing I wanted to learn about her life and impact. RBG was a true crusader for the rights of all people but most especially women and minority’s. She was a part of many landmark decisions to advocate for people who often don’t have a voice or hope. One quick note on the book itself - it’s different. It is not really written with the intent of telling her story as I was expecting. I was hoping for her own personal reflections. The book is really a collection of her many works and speeches as in a job like hers, much of what she said was recorded. It reminds me in a way of Ghandi’s biography. Short chapters mainly. "

"Reading Justice Ginsburg's words is inspiring and illuminating. It's also interesting, and I feared it might not be. As a member of the legal profession, I feared much of this could be dry and bogged down in technical language, but it is not. Justice Ginsburg is a very interesting writer, able to boil arguments and thoughts down to a very digestible form. My only complaint is that I feel we hit the same topics a few too many times here....I think some of the writings got slightly repetitive toward the end of the book."
