David Eagleman
If the conscious mind—the part you consider to be you—is just the tip of the iceberg, what is the rest doing? In this sparkling and provocative new book, the renowned neuroscientist David Eagleman navigates the depths of the subconscious brain to illuminate surprising mysteries: Why can your foot move halfway to the brake pedal before you become consciously aware of danger ahead? Why do you hear your name being mentioned in a conversation that you didn’t think you were listening to? What do Ulysses and the credit crunch have in common? Why did Thomas Edison electrocute an elephant in 1916? Why are people whose names begin with J more likely to marry other people whose names begin with J? Why is it so difficult to keep a secret? And how is it possible to get angry at yourself—who, exactly, is mad at whom? Taking in brain damage, plane spotting, dating, drugs, beauty, infidelity, synesthesia, criminal law, artificial intelligence, and visual illusions, Incognito is a thrilling subsurface exploration of the mind and all its contradictions.

"Incognito is book two in the serendipity series. We do see some of our favorite characters from book one. Oh, how I have missed them. <br/><br/><br/> I do have two suggestions before reading this book. One go in blind, trust me, you will have the best experience from his book if you do. Two, Have an open mind. I do and still had to sit back and think about the events that happened. Incognito is not for everyone; if you worry about safety, this book is not for you, and that is okay. <br/><br/> Two husbands, one woman, past and present. Both fighting for her love. I love a good love triangle. With them, you will always have some emotional heartbreak. This is like no other love triangle. The author initially cracked open my heart and slowly put it back together, and played with my heartstrings along the way. It's a very emotional read. <br/><br/> Let me tell you, all three of them at times frustrated the crap out of me, especially Zayne. As much as they frustrated me, I loved them all equally and am in awe of Ashrika's strength. She doesn’t give herself enough credit. The sex scenes are steamy and full of passion. Trent is my favorite kind of dirty talking man. Actually, Both men are swoon-worthy.<br/><br/> There is a ton of secrets, many twists, and turns, push/pull that I had whiplash at times. I didn’t see not one headed my way, not a one!! I love when that happens. The only reason I am not giving this book five stars is as follows felt some parts towards the end were a little over the top. But as I sit here and reflect on it. Maybe that is what needed to happen. If there was less drama, would I still enjoy the book(yes), and would it take away from the story? I believe it would. Across-the-board I have enjoyed this book, and yes, I recommend it. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.<br/><br/><img src='https://i.loli.net/2021/03/31/PemohkFn8tTvzsH.jpg' alt='PemohkFn8tTvzsH'/>"
