We're Going on a Bear Hunt

"“We're going on bear hunt. We're going to catch a big one.” was one of the most memorable phrases from a children's book. I couldn't remember all of the words to it but I do remember repeating that phrase over and over again. This was one of those reads I don't think I could ever forget. This book is timeless. What I loved about this book is how the illustrator switched from black and white pencil drawings to colorful watercolors for the action parts. You enjoyed every moment of their journey through the repetition and adding of new action on every other two-page spread. It was entertaining when they did actually find a bear on their bear hunt and it chased them all the way home. I ran almost as fast as them on two feet but it should have been on all fours. It also seems highly unlikely that a bear would chase you home and stop at the door. If it really wanted to it could have broken down the door and gobbled them up. Instead it just walks away, on two feet which seems odd too. I liked how all of the children interacted with one another and helped each other through all of the obstacles. Ages 4-8"
