NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • OPRAH’S BOOK CLUB PICK • From Pulitzer Prize–winning author Elizabeth Strout comes a “stunner” (People) of a novel about new friendships, old loves, and the very human desire to leave a mark on the world.“Tell Me Everything hits like a bucolic fable. . . . A novel of moods, how they govern our personal lives and public spaces, reflected in Strout’s shimmering technique.”—The Washington PostSHORTLISTED FOR THE WOMEN’S PRIZE FOR FICTION • A BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR: Time, NPR, Vogue, ParadeWith her remarkable insight into the human condition and silences that contain multitudes, Elizabeth Strout returns to the town of Crosby, Maine, and to her beloved cast of characters—Lucy Barton, Olive Kitteridge, Bob Burgess, and more—as they deal with a shocking crime in their midst, fall in love and yet choose to be apart, and grapple with the question, as Lucy Barton puts it, “What does anyone’s life mean?”It’s autumn in Maine, and the town lawyer Bob Burgess has become enmeshed in an unfolding murder investigation, defending a lonely, isolated man accused of killing his mother. He has also fallen into a deep and abiding friendship with the acclaimed writer Lucy Barton, who lives down the road in a house by the sea with her ex-husband, William. Together, Lucy and Bob go on walks and talk about their lives, their fears and regrets, and what might have been. Lucy, meanwhile, is finally introduced to the iconic Olive Kitteridge, now living in a retirement community on the edge of town. They spend afternoons together in Olive’s apartment, telling each other stories. Stories about people they have known—“unrecorded lives,” Olive calls them—reanimating them, and, in the process, imbuing their lives with meaning.Brimming with empathy and pathos, Tell Me Everything is Elizabeth Strout operating at the height of her powers, illuminating the ways in which our relationships keep us afloat. As Lucy says, “Love comes in so many different forms, but it is always love.”

"This was a beautifully written piece of lit fic that gathers fan favorite characters into one moving story. This book centers on Bob Burgess (but still makes time for Olive Kitteridge and Lucy Barton). Bob and Lucy are still taking walks along the waterfront, taking the time to be vulnerable and open about their lives and the world around them. They have a natural Rapport that lends them a closeness and causes them to think about the world in different ways. Meanwhile, Olive reaches out to Bob to ask him to connect her with Lucy, after reading all her books, she thinks she has a story to tell her. They meet and discuss stories of lesser-known people and events in a way that makes the mundane magical. While all of this is happening Bob get himself involved in defending a man who was accused of murdering his mother. Bob grew up in the same small town and knew the family well. The mother was not known for being a good person, but as we are given small stories from other people who knew them, we find that their lives were more complex than surface level complaints and some people are worthy of a second look. Overall, this book felt like a collection of short stories woven into a beautiful tapestry to form a very moving book. The book centers on love, hope, grief and appreciating the “little people” in life and not just the big loud celebrity type people. This was my first Elizabeth Strout book, and it might not have been the best place for me to start, but Strout wrote this story in a way that didn’t make me feel overwhelmed about missing the Amgash or Olive Kitteridge series. If anything, it makes me want to go back and read some of the previous, highly acclaimed books she has written.<br/>Thank you to the KDPG influencer program for gifting me an advanced copy of this book to read. This book is now available to read and it's got Oprah's seal of approval."
