"Koontz might have written an interesting story here...but I'm so put off by the truly TERRIBLE and unrealistic dialogue that I will forever hate this book.
The only other Koontz novel I attempted to read, I quit in the 3rd chapter because of his attempt at pretentious writing. Lightning is not pretentious, it's just bad. It must have been written before Koontz decided to write for people who wanted to FEEL smart.
Because his style is "this happened, then this, then this", there's no suspense in what should be a highly gripping story. Instead, it feels like he's simply documenting the tragic life of someone you'll never come to care about. The end. "
