"This book started VERY slowly even though there was a murder in the first few pages. It did pick up and had some interesting parts but there was a lot going on and the constant religious preaching just didn’t work for me. I also had a very hard time buying the stalker’s motivations for his over-the-top stalking and threatening with a gun in the modern timeline. It just was ridiculous to me. I also had issues with the past timeline - a girl escapes her abuser but stays in a small town and walks around like nothing happened. And the abuser ignores her but stalks the main character? Again it’s just unbelievable. <br/><br/>I could swear somewhere this was listed as a Gothic romance. It isn’t at all. It has some creepy elements in the past timeline but overall it’s more of a mystery/suspense story with a hint of romance (one kiss basically per couple). <br/><br/>"
