"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Finishing the 2nd book and I’m still hooked! I enjoy the story, the authors writing, how the dual POVs blend into and complement one another (I’m not a fan of multiple POVs but I do enjoy how Marie Lu has done it), and the cutesy romance. I did find that I wouldn’t pick up this book with as much enthusiasm as the 1st book, possibly boring me in some parts. The ending made me sad, tugged at my heart strings a little bit. I’m so excited to read the rest of the series though! "
"Before legend ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Legend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Prodigy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Champion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Rebel ⭐️.5
Average: 3.3

This book takes the time to expand the world. We learn more about the world and how it was form. There is even a map in the book.

Day and Junes’s loyalties were more tested in this book. They had to switch sides a few times and figure out who do they trust. Despite not being able to talk to June, he made a big decision based on trust Trust.

Day and June’s relationship was a bit rushed. Half of the book they are separated and can’t talk to each other. I wish that they had more time together. I enjoyed the scenes that they had together. Then at the end of the book they are separated again.

I still like there relationship. They have a lot of trust for each other. Day was willing to sacrifice the plan because of June. They also fight but their fight don’t last too long. Day and June are able to apologies to each other and focus on what the other person’s needs. Even though Day disagreed with Junes decision he was able to drop it and focus on taking care of June. June made some sacrifices too. As a character she likes to focus on the logic more than her emotions. This is a good balance with Day who does not always think things through. I also like two people that are from different world and are supposed to be enemies, come together. They are both able to but the pass behind then and recognize who the true enemy is.

The one thing that got kind of annoying was Tess. I love Tess but in this book she was acting almost like the jealous girlfriend without being bitchy. All the characters tease a love triangle. They talk about how much Tess loves Day. It is revealed in the next book that Tess never had romantic feelings for Day. The reason she acted that way was more because of her background. Tess grew up with parents that just locked her outside one night. She was alone, going through trash looking for food, until she met Day. Day was the only person she had. He was more like an older brother to her. Then all of a sudden June comes in. June is with then for a bit then betrays them. Day (the only person that cared about her) is captured and Tess is on her own. Then all of a sudden June frees Day and is on their side again. Tess does beleive that June is on their side but she is scared that she will take Day away from her. I also think that she is also jealous of how easy everything comes for June. June is a higher statice and is rich, so it is easier for her than Tess."
