Sarai was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious drug lord. Over time she forgot what it was like to live a normal life, but she never let go of her hope to escape the compound where she has been held for the past nine years. Victor is a cold-blooded assassin who, like Sarai, has known only death and violence since he was a young boy. When Victor arrives at the compound to collect details and payment for a hit, Sarai sees him as her only opportunity for escape. But things don't go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another. While on the run, Victor strays from his primal nature as he succumbs to his conscience and resolves to help Sarai. As they grow closer, he finds himself willing to risk everything to keep her alive; even his relationship with his devoted brother and liaison, Niklas, who now like everyone else wants Sarai dead. As Victor and Sarai slowly build a trust, the differences between them seem to lessen, and an unlikely attraction intensifies. But Victor's brutal skills and experience may not be enough in the end to save her, as the power she unknowingly holds over him may ultimately be what gets her killed.

"This is not a romance novel. This is not classic book-love. It is listed as an Adult/Romantic Suspense/Crime Thriller, and is about two people trying to survive. It is definitely outside of my usual comfort zone, and I love finding books I wouldn’t typically read that end up being so good! It is the first in a series, so you will have many more to read if you like it! "
"This was a complicated book. I never read something quite as dark and I don't think I will again but the book was so intresting. It kind of hurt me because it is such a story of survival that I know unfortunately could be happening to many girls out there. Heavy topics aside, the sexual talk and scenes in this book almost made me gag. They weren't meant to be romantic obviously but this book was way too dark and I feel I could have gone my whole life without reading what I did. Sarai is complicated and broken and that made me keep being like wtf because I just didn't get how she thought a lot of the times but it's evident it's because of what she went through. Anyway, dark book. Wouldn't consider this a "romance" book more a "surviving together" and developing connections. I didn't really enjoy it but if you like darker books you might."
"Best underrated book ever!!!"

"Sarai was pretty annoying, to be honest. She was supposedly a pampered sex slave for 9 years of her life, but the story didn’t do a good job of portraying it I think. Victor didn’t really have much of a personality. And Sarai spent the whole book trying to coin onto the one person she had in life, which I guess I can’t really blame her for. None of the characters were overly appealing."
"Amazing, it gets better and better each book!! My favorite series, can’t wait for book 8 "
